Introduction

It has been a tough 2020 for a lot of us! Through these challenging times, companies are having to reinvent themselves to boost sales to thrive.

That’s why to help you keep ahead of the market (as well as your competitors), we’ve devised a list of popular and upcoming trends coming through into 2021.

Using the expert knowledge and experience from our heads of food & drink and health & beauty, we believe these new customer habits and interests can benefit your business substantially.

Here is our list of the biggest trends we expect to see heading into 2021.

Canned Wine

One of the biggest selling points for customers currently is convenience (as you may discover as you read on) which is why canned wine is a thing. No more will you have to carry large boxes of wine to the beach, instead, customers are popping into the shop and grabbing a can of wine – who’d a thought?

In fact, canned wine sales in the summer of 2019, had risen 69% on the previous year, totalling £62.7 million in sales, with evidence suggesting this could increase going into 2021.

Men’s Personal Care

Studies show that 56% of US men have used facial cosmetic products in 2019. And with the introduction to more male beauty products and the increase in popularity, the demand is high. Sure, we’ve seen a lot of gender-neutral products, but it’s only just now where health & beauty products for men have started being manufactured.

One of the biggest areas men have been looking to improve is their skin. Traditionally a skincare regime was just not a thing. But it seems an increasing number of men are starting to wake up to the idea of a skincare routine and many are even delving into the health & beauty marketplace further.

According to research, the Men’s personal care market is expected to be worth $166 billion by 2022, meaning it would have risen by 11% within 2 years.

CBD & Hard Seltzers

If you haven’t seen already, we actually posted a blog surrounding CBD as well as Hard Seltzer’s since there is so much hype (and rightly so) around these new products.

Non-alcoholic Spirits

Although it’s not a particularly new trend, we’ve seen a rise in non-alcoholic spirits at the start of the new decade. And that’s not just from new year’s resolution commitments. In fact, studies show 8.6 million Brits are moderating their drinking habits.

Made to replicate the taste of spirits without the high alcohol content, many people (including millennials) are putting their beers down and picking up the alcohol-free G&T’s. With all this in mind, it’s no wonder that the non-alcoholic spirit’s market is forecasted to double in size over the next 5 years, making it worth over 100 million dollars.

Cocktails at Home

As you may have guessed, many of us are now spending more time than ever indoors and less time is being spent in pubs and bars due restrictions and concern for well being. However, in light of this, restaurants and drink brands are spanning out into DIY cocktail kits. These kits give the opportunity for customers to recreate the authentic experience from their favourite cocktails at home.

As mentioned with hard seltzers, “Canned or bottled cocktails are particularly well-positioned to resonate with consumers during lockdowns. They mimic an easy cocktail experience for consumers missing the on-premise.” - Brandy Rand COO of the IWSR

And guess what? – One of our clients, The Lost Estate, have done exactly that by bringing out their very own cocktail kit. This doesn’t only speak words though, it also speaks awards with The Lost Estate being nominated by HRC for the “Most Innovative At-Home Experience” award at the “Lockdown Hero Awards”.
